WYLAND THE ARTIST

Wyland, a globally renowned marine life artist, has left an indelible mark on the art world and environmental conservation.

Acclaimed for his monumental marine life murals, known as the Whaling Walls, created between 1981 and 2008, Wyland's work has been viewed by an estimated one billion people each year. His contributions have been recognized by organizations such as the United Nations and the U.S. Congress.

Wyland holds the Guinness World Record for the largest mural ever painted, covering over 3 acres on the Long Beach convention center. His commitment to environmental activism is evident in projects like doubling the size of his mural with an Earth Day-themed depiction, completed in just twenty-four hours.

Continuing his legacy, Wyland's latest endeavor involves creating 100 Monumental Sculptures in 100 Great Cities, focusing on whale species and endangered animals.

His passion for conservation was ignited by early encounters with marine life in his youth and the influence of figures like Jacques Cousteau.

Through his Wyland Galleries and the Wyland Foundation, established in 1978 and 1993 respectively, Wyland has not only showcased his art but also advocated for clean water and a sustainable planet. His influence extends worldwide, with his artwork displayed in museums, private collections, and corporate spaces across more than 100 countries.

Wyland's dedication to merging art and environmentalism has made him one of the most collected and respected artists globally, inspiring millions to take action for the preservation of our oceans and planet.
